#About Internet, #Concept of internet,#internet
What is Internet?è The Internet is
a vast network that connects computers all over the world. Through the Internet,
people can share information and communicate from anywhere with an Internet connection.
History of
IternetèIn 1969, the
U.S. Defense Department established an Advanced Research Project Agency (ARPA)
for research purpose in the area of Defense. They designed a network of four
computers to exchange and share their data, one in California and three in
Utah. This network was called ARPANET. Later on, Department of Defense allowed
the universities to join this network for sharing Hardware & software
resources. This was the beginning of a concept which grew bigger and bigger and
finally gave birth to the most popular term across the globe, the INTERNET.
Advantage of
InternetèConnectivity,
communication, and sharing, Information, knowledge, and learning, Address,
mapping, and contact information, Selling and making money, Banking, bills, and
shopping, Donations and funding, Donations and funding Work from home,
collaboration, and access to a global workforce
Working of
InternetèAll computers
which have an access to the internet are connected with each other either
through cables or satellite. All these computers use a NETWORKING PROTOCOL so
as to understand each other in a network configuration like LAN, MAN or WAN.
Protocol: A set of rules
which regulate data transmission among devices as well as within a network of
linked devices.
While using
Internet, the most common protocols are:
- Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
- Internet Protocol (IP)

The information
that we send through the internet is broken into packets by TCP/IP. This
protocol is responsible for sending these packets to the right address. The
packets are sent to a local internet service provider (ISP). From here the
packets travel through multiple level of networks, computers and communication
lines before reaching the destination. This destination may be our own town or
anywhere across the globe
.
Who Control the
Internetè
1.
INTERNET CORPORATION FOR
ASSIGNED NAMES AND NUMBERS (ICANN)
2.
INTERNET ENGINEERING TASK
FORCE (IETF)
3.

How a computer
connects to the internet?
With the help of ISPs
(Internet Service Providers) like BSNL, AIRTEL, JIO, Vi etc., we can connect
our computer to the Internet but for this we need a very important device called
Modem.
What is a MODEM?
Modem stands for Modulator
DEModulator. We know that a computer only understands the language of
‘0’ and ‘1’ i.e. Binary Language. The modem from the sender’s side (Terminal
/Web Server) modulates the digital data into a signal which is compatible with
the telephone line, i.e. analog signals. The receiving modem at your workplace
demodulates this analog signal back into digital data. Hence a modem modulates
as well as demodulates the signal.
What is a Web
Browser?
To find, retrieve,
view and send information over the internet, a software known as web browser is
required. A web browser helps in accessing and displaying web pages on the
screen.
Some Browser name is:
Netscape Navigator, Internet
Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera Mini, Safari
What is Web Page

other in real time. You can receive instant replies to your messages. Although
e-mail is a more expensive form of communication, unlike chatting, you cannot
receive the response to the messages immediately. Ex-Whatsapp, IMO, Telegram
Types of Chatè1.

Video ConferencingèVideoconferencing
is similar to chatting, but it also includes communicating sound and video
pictures. It is a form of meeting in which participants in remote locations can
see each other and carry on discussions using web cameras, microphones.

Internet Status or
URLè An
